How Atlas came to be.
Atlas Tubular, LLC was conceived when John Hubbard had an informal discussion with a pipe company’s representative on a flight he was piloting. Mr. Hubbard had been a pipe inspector before becoming a flight instructor and charter pilot. His ability to offer insight on tubular products during the conversation made such an impression that he was recruited to join the team. After a few highly successful weeks of flying, selling and inspecting pipe for his new employer, Mr. Hubbard became a sales representative and within a year had formed his own Houston based company specializing in the sale of oil country tubular goods.
In 1979, a more favorable labor market beckoned and the company relocated to Corpus Christi, and soon after established a new headquarters and a 38-acre facility in Robstown, Texas, with an additional 15 acres for expansion.
Since then Atlas Tubular, LLC has grown as a family business with daughter Tracey Barrett joining the company in 1996, son Jason in 2000 and Matt coming in 2005. This younger generation has brought new energy and a fresh focus to the business. Since inception, the business has continued to establish itself as a leading oil country tubular goods and line pipe provider in its market. Its client base is diverse including major E & P, Drilling, Operating, and contracting companies.
